Aren't all religions basically the same?

They share some moral overlap - most teach compassion and honesty - but on the biggest questions they flatly disagree. Is God personal or impersonal? One or many? Is the problem ignorance, imbalance, or sin? Is salvation earned, escaped, or received as a gift? These are contradictory answers, not different paths up one mountain.

Saying "they're all the same" actually disrespects each faith by ignoring what it really claims. They can't all be true - but they can all be examined. Christianity is unusual in resting on a historical claim you can investigate: that a real man, in real history, died and rose again. That's testable in a way "all paths lead to God" is not.
